See what porn addiction can do

Watching porn can certainly have a negative effect on your sex life. According to a survey of the NoFap community, a group of people who are attempting to quit masturbating to online pornography, 49 percent of the self-titled "Fapstronauts" have never had sex with another person. Additionally, 59 percent say they watched porn between four and 15 hours a week before swearing it off.

In an effort to call attention to the problem, ProjectKnow.com, a resource site for learning about addictions of all types, has taken the raw data from an April, 2012, "Fapstronaut" survey and produced the infographic below.

The world's tallest model finally finds love

203cm tall, Amazon Eve always struggled to find a man who treated her like a woman, not like their mother. The longest relationship for the 34-year-old had been six months, before she met Dennis Hargrove, an American accountant in his 60s who she says is a perfect match. At 193cm, Hargrove is almost as tall as Eve, and she says he challenges her intellectually, unlike the other men she has dated.

"Taller men find me too much to handle because they're used to a woman looking up to them and short men see me as a trophy," she said.

"Dennis isn't like that, he is successful in his own right, confident and loves me for who I am."

Hargrove said he has no problem with the stature of his girlfriend, who won the 2011 Guiness World Record for being the world's tallest model.

"My friends are envious of my girlfriend," he said.

"She sometimes complains about her height from time to time, but I know she enjoys being tall. Eve is very spontaneous and energetic, I love her for who she is and I always look forward to the next time we are together."

Eve's modelling career took off after she appeared on the front cover of Zoo Weekly in 2009. She also acts and charges $400 an hour for men to wrestle her.

It was in a tax meeting with Hargrove when sparks first flew.

"Dennis is very personable and kind-hearted," she said.

"He knows when I've had a tough day or I'm under a deadline and he manages to ease my mind with a well timed back rub. I used to have a long list of wants in a man, but my dating experience has taught me to be open to different kinds of possibilities. If there's no chemistry then it won't work."
Until now, she found it hard to find a man who could handle her height.

"Guys forget that Amazon Eve is an alter ego I play in the entertainment biz," she said.

"Guys who approach me with a focus to be with me because of my height tend to see me only as a fetish object — albeit just a surface attraction.

"The short men I dated saw me as a replacement for their mother and the few taller men I've dated were either too old, not available, too boring or struggled to cope with the fact I could look them directly in the eye. I did worry I'd never find true love."
Once a man grabbed her crotch and asked, "You don't have a penis do you?"

Growing up, she was the butt of her peers' jokes.

"People called me 'Giant' and 'Stretch' because I was ridiculously tall, flat chested and lanky," she said.

"I hated my body so much I hid myself away and avoided the boys I fancied because I didn't want to be rejected. No boy was interested in taking me to the school prom."

But she credits acting classes and fitness for helping her find self-confidence, and love.

"The first time I met Dennis we were going over some tax preparation, not the most romantic encounter, but then when I heard him speak French I just fell head over heels," she said.

"He's not like any other man I've dated."

Cheeky Baboon Gropes TV Reporters Breast

baboonA baboon made the most of his fifteen minutes of fame by grabbing a female reporter's breast live on air, before looking straight into the camera and giving it a wide grin.
Sabrina Rodriguez, who presents for Fox 40 in Sacramento, California, was shooting a teaser for a report on the Lodi Grape Festival on September 12 when the cheeky monkey seized his chance and clamped his paw on her right breast.

Ever the professional, Ms Rodriguez carried on her piece unruffled and attempted to make a joke of it, telling viewers, 'he's trying to cop a little bit of a feel'.

But despite her best efforts, Mickey refused to remove his paw and, looking rather pleased with himself, continued groping her as she wrapped up the broadcast.
Keeping as straight a face as possible, she finished her segment with the sign off: "join us soon when we'll be learning a bit about why baboons like grapes'.

baboonThe encounter had started well when Ms Rodriguez introduced Mickey to viewers and he politely shook her hand.
But seconds later he clambered behind her, put one paw on her shoulder and with the other seized his chance to go in for a grope, all while brazenly staring down the camera with a toothy grin.

Managing to keep her calm, albeit with a nervous giggle, Ms Rodriguez carried on her piece like a stalwart as the camera panned away from her face and the baboon's cheeky antics.
Later asked if the baboon was showing its teeth because it was mad or smiling, Rodriguez responded, "I'm gonna go with smiling."
Ms Rodriguez, 29, is an Emmy award winning TV news reporter and covers the north California area for Fox 40.

BaboonShe was shooting a live trailer for her report on the Lodi Grape Festival, which ran from September 12 to 15 and featured a 'Wild About Monkeys' show.
The show aimed to show how social baboons are - something Mickey managed to get across quite well in his few seconds on screen.

Mickey, the star of the show, has already found international fame appearing next to Tom Cruise in the film Rock of Ages released in 2012.
According to the film's director, Tom Cruise was quite taken with the baboon who was just as cheeky on that set.
baboonAdam Shankman told thewrap.com: "One day the baboon got loose, and he was running up and down the street yelling at extras. We had to stop for 20 minutes and wrangle him.
Fox 40"Those are canines on that baby. He’s very sweet. Very sensitive. Tom Cruise did a scene where he was actually talking to the baboon — it’s not currently in the movie — and he had his face really, really close. Forehead to forehead. I was shivering. But the baboon loves him. Every day we wrapped, Tom would hug me and shake me and say, 'I am having the best time, thank you.'"

Shoktoberfest Introduces Naked Haunted House

Don't worry about pissing in your pants at this haunted house -- you won't be wearing any.

Pennsylvania's Shocktoberfest offers a "Naked and Scared" tour that lets visitors show off every goosebump, according to owner Patrick Konopelski.

"It's about vulnerability -- people putting their defenses down and not being protected by anything. It allows us to scare them in ways they have never been scared before," Konopelski told The Huffington Post.

For more than 20 years the haunted attraction in Sinking Spring, Pa., has been scaring the pants off visitors, so it seems only natural for the "scream park" to boost its scary reputation by offering customers a bare-skin tour of is haunted house.

"When we started out we just needed some plastic masks and rubber knives, but over the years our customers wanted more," Konopelski said.

From those humble beginnings, Shocktoberfest has grown into multiple attractions, including a haunted hay ride, haunted house, midway games and food. The scares have also grown bigger and better, requiring Konopelski and his team to utilize hydraulics, animatronics and high-tech special effects to create a virtual world of horror for their customers.

The end goal, Konopelski said, has always been to make the scariest haunted house attraction ever built. "Our haunted house gives the customer an adrenaline rush –- something they perhaps first experienced when they were little kids going through their first haunted house. That rush becomes like a heroin addiction and people will chase that high again and again. It's our job to give it to them."

The "Naked and Scared" tour is intended to take scaring the b'Jesus out of folks to the next level. By putting people in a vulnerable position, i.e. their birthday suit, they will not be protected by anything and can be scared in ways they have never experienced before.

According to Konopelski, his inspiration for the nude tour came to him while watching an episode of the Discovery Channel's show "Naked and Afraid," in which two strangers -- a man and a woman -– have to survive in the wilderness naked for 21 days.

"I was inspired by the show. It was really creepy. So my team and I sat down and started figuring out how we could [implement something similar] and how it could be done safely," he said.

After talking to his lawyer, who said the idea was legal and a "human rights issue," Konopelski and his team convinced town officials to give them the go ahead. The team decided to offer the special event to consenting adults, at specific times when regular customers were not present in the park. The customers, not the ghouls, are the only naked participants. The team also decided to provide an option of "nude or prude," meaning participants can go on the tour in the buff or in their underwear.

Couples are welcome on the tour, which Konopelski said will be limited to small groups, in order to ensure safety and security.

"It's an upscale experience," he said. And no worries, Konopelski said, there won't be any hanky panky going on during the tour. "It has nothing to do with sex. Inappropriate behavior is not allowed. We have controls in place to ensure that will not be the case," he said. "In our industry we create the illusion of a very chaotic environment, when in fact, it's a very safe and secure environment."

Konopelski said he has received feedback about his new tour from all over the world. While some people have been negative about it, he said the majority of those he has heard from have expressed interest in it.

"We're in America. If it's not for you, don't do it. Because you don't agree, does it give you the right to stop someone else from experiencing something they have the right to experience? Keep in mind this is in a controlled environment. [Participants] will never be in view of minors or non-consenting adults," he said.

The naked tour is being held as a test run this year -– an experiment of sorts, Konopelski said, to see how the public responds. If it goes over well, it might be back. While the idea is certainly unique to lovers of haunted houses, it begs the question as to what's in store next for Shocktoberfest.

"That question has been asked," Konopelski said. "Please, can I please get through this year first? It's the fun and excitement of the business. We all get to be Walt Disney for a month because we create this wonderful thing for people to experience. You'll just have to stay tuned and see what we come up with in 2014." The "Naked and Scared" challenge will begin Friday at midnight. Tickets can be bought online for $20. Additional information can be found at Shocktoberfest.com.

iPhone 5S unlocks even with boobs

First it was the paw of a cat, then it was a man's toe and now the latest body part being used to unlock Apple's iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner is a nipple.
First it was the paw of a cat, then it was a man's toe. Now, the latest body part being used to unlock Apple's iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner is a nipple.

A number of videos have appeared online that appear to show male and female nipples being pressed onto the phone's TouchID sensor.
The capacitive sensor can be used with any skin part, as long as a heartbeat and body temperature can be detected, to unlock the device.

One owner of the new iPhone 5S said: 'I'm glad Apple's scanner recognises nipples - it just goes to show how ridiculous the premise is in the first place.
'Now if anyone tries to mug me, they'll have to cut one of my nipples off if they want to use my phone, and I'm not telling them which one.'
The latest Apple handset comes with technology which means they can be accessed by placing the owner's finger on the control button.

New iPhone 5S
It lets owners register up to five different prints to  unlock the phone and pay for apps.

Last week, technology site, TechCrunch, wanted to test the new Touch ID feature using a cat's paw.
After a few false starts, the paw was recognised as one of the owner's five chosen keys and was able to access the phone's content.
The user was also able to use the heel of his palm and his wrist in the experiment which is described as 'a broadening of the definition of what counts as a 'fingerprint'.
Cat pawThough different parts of the body were able to be registered and then recognised as keys, when trying to fool the phone's software by using the opposite hand than registered access was denied.
The experiment pointed out however that no other animals could be used to unlock the phone as cats have unique fingerprint like paws.
Another technology site, Pocket-Lint, found TouchID is not just a fingerprint sensor, but is also a toe sensor.
Their tests found that a print from a toe was able to unlock the phone perfectly every time.

Apple unveiled the fingerprint scanner on its iPhone 5S last week with bold claims about its high levels of encryption and security.
The firm even suggested that its Touch ID system could revolutionise smartphone security and replace the traditional, everyday password.
The Touch ID sensor is built into the premium phone's 'home' button and can be used to unlock the phone, as well as pay for shopping and apps automatically - effectively replacing the need for a password or PIN.
Speaking at the launch event in Cupertino, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller said: 'Half of smartphone customers do not set up passwords. [Touch ID] is an easier and more fun alternative.

'It uses key you have with you everywhere you go. Your finger.'
It works by using a small touch sensor encased around the home button that scans the layers of skin on a finger.
A user can 'train' their iPhone to read and learn their unique fingerprint and when they touch the home button, the phone is unlocked.
Feet iphoneTouch ID can also replace an App Store password when buying music, apps or books.
It uses a 'laser cut sapphire crystal' to take a high-res image scan and the Touch ID software in iOS 7 determines whether the print belongs to the owner or not.
Apple said it is designed to provide 'accurate readings from any angle, so the motion to unlock your device ought to be as automatic as it is now.'
It is also designed to become more accurate the more it is used.
Schiller reassured users that Touch ID is secure by explaining that 'all fingerprint information is encrypted and stored securely inside the device's chip' adding the prints are not stored on an Apple server, or backed up to iCloud.

Is This Proof Of Alien Life?

A two-month rain storm in southern India may be the most compelling evidence yet that extraterrestrial lifeforms have visited Earth.

Between July 25 and Sept. 23, 2001, the Indian state of Kerala was drenched by bizarre red-colored rain unlike any seen previously, according to the latest episode of"The Unexplained Files," airing Sept. 25 on the Science Channel.

Godfrey Louis, a physicist based in Kerala, analyzed drops of the rain expecting the strange color would be a result of dust particles. But that didn't turn out to be the case.

"Dust particles do not have this irregular shape," Louis said in the program. "They are not transparent like this."

Louis noticed something else when he analyzed the crimson-colored water droplets under the microscope. In his opinion, the particles appeared to be alive, with some superficial similarities to blood cells -- although closer inspection revealed they were not blood cells.

At first, the official report from the Center for Earth Science Studies attributed the red rain to an exploding meteor that fell to Earth in the area a week before the first red rainstorm.

After working with the Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute, the official explanation was changed to spores, according to the Indian Express.

Researchers at Stintec, a lab in Sri Lanka, found something more shocking. Even though the so-called "spore cells" were replicating, not one trace of DNA could be found.

Louis believes that the spores were on the meteor that exploded over Kerala prior to the rainstorm.  He said research showed that the supposed space cells managed to continue replicating even under temperatures exceeding 572 degrees Fahrenheit.

"It was growing at temperatures that would kill other lifeforms," Louis said on the show.

British-based astrobiologist Chandra Wickramasinghe believes that the "alien rain" theory is not only plausible, but likely, especially since 100 tons of space rock hits Earth daily.

"The existence of life outside the Earth is amazingly regarded as an extraordinary hypothesis, but I would argue that the extraordinary hypothesis is that this tiny minute piece of dust we call the Earth is the center of life in the universe and that no life exists even next door to it," Wickramasinghe told the program.

Earlier this year, Wickramasinghe also announced he had discovered tiny fossils inside a meteorite found in Sri Lanka in December. He used this finding to promote "panspermia," a theory that life exists throughout the universe and is distributed by meteoroids and asteroids.

Louis and Wickramasinghe's red rain theories are inspiring a storm of controversy, but the possibility of actual proof that life on other planets is clouded with some chilling realizations.

Earlier this year, researcher Anil Samaranayake released a paper in the Journal of Cosmology suggesting that the cells found in red rain pose a possible risk to Earth. "A high concentratrion of uranium was found in the outer crust of the unicellular organisms," Samaranayake said.

This Study Is Super NSFW

Sometimes, it seems like the Internet exists specifically so porn can flourish, and there's no arguing that quite a bit of that porn is so very filthy and degrading that it basically requires you to shower after watching. It is the dark corner of the web for which novelty dildos were almost exclusively created, a misogynistic medium that may very well desensitize you to words like "pussy." But can porn actually make you sexist?

A recent study published in Psychology of Women Quarterly asserts that watching porn can reinforce negative stereotypes, making both men and women who watch porn less likely to support affirmative action for women. And a similar new finding, published in the Journal of Communication, found that porn has an extensive impact on the way men think about women, leading to sexist attitudes.

So, in short: Yep, porn can totally make you sexist!

Unfortunately, this might seem less than startling. The debate about the effects of porn is not new to feminist discourse, and it is easy to dismiss the finding as Jezebel did, filing under the title "Department of Duh Study Shows Watching Porn Makes People More Sexist." That said, author Erin Gloria Ryan went on to add a bit of slightly more thoughtful commentary on the Psychology of Women Quarterly study, saying, "that viewing certain types of porn causes people to subconsciously look down on women isn't surprising."

Isn't it, though?

No one is arguing that a realm in which a thing called a "money shot" exists is pushing anyone to "lean in." Porn as a manifestation of sexism is essentially treated as a fact at this point in the debate, but the idea that it has a direct effect on even women's attitudes about themselves cannot be dismissed to the "Department of Duh." There are both women and men who choose to watch porn but also support affirmative action for women and perhaps don't realize the effect that porn has on their understanding of women in the workplace (or in general).

Researchers Paul J. Wright and Michelle Funk concluded that their findings suggest that "sexual media activate[s] abstract social scripts, which may then be used to inform opinions about social issues." What the study further seems to imply (more dauntingly than the flippant "No sh*t, Sherlock -- it's called patriarchy" response) is that not just watching submissive porn, but submissive sexual preferences and sexual fantasies can affect the way a woman thinks about herself in the workplace... and her deservingness of a raise, or promotion, or equal paycheck.

As The Week noted, there are, of course, many different kinds of porn. There's feminist porn, and gay porn, and, as Ryan mentioned, "vintage porn where the robustly-bushed female stars are shown enjoying themselves rather than newer stuff that is basically a close up of a dick being shoved into a silicon-enhanced woman's bleached butthole like a soulless piston." But what if the latter type (of decidedly sexist porn) is a turn-on to an otherwise self-confident, soulful, feminist woman? Does that mean there is something wrong with the woman herself?

The fact that a woman who otherwise aligns with the feminist agenda may experience a reduction in the strength of her beliefs after watching sexist porn is especially upsetting. It allows for the concern that a feminist woman who prefers to take a submissive role in the bedroom might experience a subconscious subverting of her convictions as a direct result of her preferences. In other words, this study is troublesome, because it presents a conflict between the sexual preference for submission and conviction that women deserve preferential treatment in the office.

Ideally, the way a woman chooses to explore her sexuality should be distinct from the way she exists in any alternate capacity -- idealistically, professionally, socially or otherwise. Specifically speaking, a preference for submission should not be understood as a version of victimization. But what if your ideological convictions are incapable of conquering the automatic effects of your preference for watching sexist porn? Should our ideological convictions dictate what we find pleasure in? Unfortunately, the answer there is a resounding yes.

The patriarchal structure in which we reside has effects beyond the obvious things likegetting raped "because of the hormone levels in nature" and vajazzling. The finding that porn can increase sexist attitudes even in women is truly daunting, because it reveals the intricacies with which our convictions might be subverted even in conjunction with the independent pursuit of sexual preferences.

It is not an obvious fact that watching porn could increase a woman's sexist attitudes. Wright and Funk personally hope that their work will lead to "increased public awareness of the misogyny in pornography." Perhaps being aware is all that we can do. It is much harder for something to have an unintended effect on our subconscious if we are mindful of the attitudes it can produce.

In the meantime, stop watching sexist porn, and go out and find some of that "robustly-bushed" stuff that Ryan was talking about. If porn can alter the way we conceptualize women's place in the office, that's more than one reason it's NSFW.

Cinema used for sex

Police have shut a cinema in the Italian port of Genoa after finding it "little more than a brothel", it's reported.

They say the Cinema Centrale, next to Brignole railway station in the San Vincenzo red-light district, let clients into a den of vice for the price of a film ticket, the reports suggest. "Homosexuals, transsexuals, boys, youths and women sold themselves on the theatre seats, in the toilets, in the foyer and even in the projection room," according to the local edition of La Repubblica newspaper.

The 1958 closure of brothels in Italy reportedly drove sex workers onto the streets, meaning prostitutes often take over informal cruising venues like run-down cinemas. Magistrates do appear to tolerate discreet prostitution, but Milan prosecutors this month ordered raids on cinemas across northern Italy that they deemed to be operating openly as brothels. In the case of the Centrale, they are reportedly investigating two managers and 17 other people on suspicion of "facilitating prostitution". As for the cinematic fare on offer, La Repubblica dismisses it as "films reduced to bleeding chunks, either free of plot or looped endlessly".

Public masturbation is not a crime according to Swedish court

As Woody Allen once said, “don’t knock masturbation, it’s sex with someone I love.”

It looks like one Scandinavian judge was a, ahem, firm believer in, ahem again, Woody’s mantra as the Södertörn District Court in Sweden this week acquitted a 65-year old man of sexual assault after he had openly masturbated on a Stockholm beach. Insert your own ‘sea man’ joke here…

According to a report in The Local, the man was acquitted of the crime in court after it was ruled he was not targeting a specific person, with the prosecutor saying it’s “okay” to play with yourself in public.

The incident occurred on June 6th at the Drevviken beach when the man removed his shorts and began masturbating close to the water. The District Court acquitted the sex-on-the-brain Swede though stating that it “may be proven that the man exposed himself and masturbated on this occasion”, however, the court added that no offence had been committed as the masturbating man was not pleasuring himself towards a specific person.

So, when on a Swedish beach getting jiggy with yourself, remember this – DO NOT mention anyone’s name out loud and definitely DO NOT shake hands with smiling strangers.

In our own follow-up investigation JOE contacted Sweden’s most famous ‘hot dog’ expert to find out what he had to say on the matter…

iPhone 5S Fingerprint Sensor Hacked by German Hacker Group

A hacking group in Germany is claiming to have fooled the iPhone 5S fingerprint sensor and software, known as Touch ID, less than 48 hours after the new iPhone's release.

The Chaos Computer Club (CCC) posted about their achievement on Sept. 21, along with anaccompanying video.

The hacker filmed in the video goes by the nickname "Star Bug." Dirk Engling, a spokesperson for the CCC, said that what Star Bug has done wasn't particularly challenging, even for a non-professional hacker. "The CCC published everything that you would need to fool a fingerprint sensor 10 years ago," he told ABC News. "Really, the hardest part was to get our hands on an iPhone 5S because it was sold out."

Robert Graham, one of the co-creators of the site istouchidhacketyet.com, said that he shouldn't have been surprised in retrospect. "The only thing that's different is that Apple increased the resolution of the fingerprint scanner," he said. The website has accumulated a bounty of over $10,000 for the first person to hack Touch ID, not including the $10,000 pledge of one donor who recently withdrew the offer.

Apple did not respond to ABC News' requests for comment regarding Star Bug's video or Graham's website.

Engling said that there were no other Touch ID profiles stored on the device filmed in the video. After Star Bug set up a Touch ID profile on the iPhone 5S using his index finger, he applies a thin film etched with the index fingerprint to his middle finger. Even though the middle finger is not associated with a user profile, it is also able to unlock the phone by masquerading as the index finger.

Granted, the average iPhone thief may not want to make the investment in equipment for something they could get for $200 from Apple stores. However, Graham said that just because it's a lot of trouble for one person doesn't mean that it will be trouble for all people. "If you're a professional iPhone thief or even the government or police, once you have the equipment, you can do it," he said.

Graham's website officially recognizes the CCC as being first to hack Touch ID. However, they are still waiting for video showing how they lifted the fingerprint.

Engling said that while Star Bug is probably working as quick as he can, Graham should take into consideration that this isn't how he makes his living. "We all still have day jobs," said Engling. "But we will submit another video today to them. Maybe we'll hear back from [istouchidhackedyet.com] tomorrow."

Wayne High School teacher in involved sex

Kelsey Hartmann photo
DAYTON — A former Wayne High School teacher caught having sex with her student was sentenced to community control Monday morning in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
Kelsey L. Hartmann, 28, earlier reached a plea deal with in prosecutors in which she pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree felony unlawful sexual conduct with a teenage boy. She had been indicted on three felony counts of sexual battery of a minor by a teacher.
Hartmann will be classified as a Tier II sex offender, meaning she must register her address twice per year for the next 25 years. The maximum sentence could have been five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Prosecutor Jon Marshall said the reduced charge was due to the wishes of the boy's family.
Judge Michael Krumholtz said he reviewed the pre-sentencing investigation, the defense's sentencing memo and letters from interested parties on both sides. He said the letter written by Hartmann's husband was "particularly powerful" in helping him determine his sentence. Krumholtz said Hartmann's risk of recidivism is low and that community control is "the right thing."
Hartmann will voluntarily surrender her Ohio teacher's certificate. She re-signed her plea form Tuesday due to a technical error that misstated the possible maximum sentence.
"Yes, your Honor," Hartmann told Krumholtz when asked if the charge was true.

Transgender Teen Named Homecoming Queen

She is the homecoming queen, only 16 -- and transgender.

Cassidy Lynn Campbell proudly took a slice of homecoming history Friday night, after being the first trans teen at Marina High School in Huntington Beach, Calif. to win the title.

Campbell tearily accepted her crown in front of camera crew and a crowd of students, family and football players on the field.

"I wasn't doing this for me," she told ABC affiliate KABC-TV, shortly after being proclaimed the winner, "I was doing this for so many others, so many others around the nation."

Other students congratulated Campbell for attaining the most votes over five other finalists in the running.

"I think it's really cool how we allowed her to run, and I just think it's a really good thing," student Kelsey Callanan said.

As the school's first transgender student nominated to the court, Campbell experienced some backlash after it was announced she would be in the top 10 contenders.

"They think that I'm just a boy doing this for fun, and I'm just a boy dressing up as a girl and trying to win a crown when that is completely the opposite of what it is," she said. "I've always seen myself as a girl."

But the 16-year-old, who up until three years ago lived as Lance Campbell, did not let the negativity deter her from her goals, defending her decision to run on her Twitter account.

"My goal isnt to be famous, it's to open people's eyes to the world around them, to teach people to be open minded and to rethink social norms," she wrote.

Campbell is also an avid YouTuber, and has posted a video of her daily transformation online.Campbell's mother has expressed her joy and pride at her daughter's achievements."I never would have thought in my lifetime that I would see this," said Christine Campbell. "It's wonderful. She really did it."

Campbell is not the first trans student in the country to win a homecoming title. Earlier this year, "The Katie Couric Show" featured a 19-year-old transgender teen named Devon who won the title of Junior Homecoming Princess at her high school where her peers were unaware she was biologically male.

Last month, California Gov. Jerry Brown put transgender issues for minors in the spotlight after he signed a bill granting all public school students the right to "participate in sex-segregated programs, activities and facilities" that correspond with their gender identity
