Simon Cowell, the X-Factor creator and judge and former judge of American Idol, has allegedly impregnated Lauren Silverman, the wife of wealthy real estate magnate Andrew Silverman. Both Silvermans are – or were, as the case may be – Cowell’s close friends.
Andrew, the chief investment officer at Andalex Group, filed for divorce from his wife two weeks ago on the grounds of adultery, naming Cowell as a co-respondent. Cowell and the Silvermans have been close friends for seven years, when Cowell met the pair while travelling in Barbados. For years, Cowell and a succession of romantic partners routinely accompanied the Silvermans on double dates, according to USA Today.
Cowell was last seen with the couple slightly less than a year ago in St. Barts, when he was spotted canoodling with Lauren on a yacht. Friends of Cowell told the New York Daily News that the producer was shocked by the revelation that Lauren is pregnant. “Simon thought this was a casual relationship — friends with benefits,” said one anonymous source. “The pregnancy was not planned.”
“No question that Simon will want to be part of the baby’s life, but I’m not so sure he wants to be part of Lauren’s,” the source continued.
Lauren and the Silverman’s 7-year-old son moved out of the family’s $6 million Upper East Side apartment in June.
