Is This Proof Of Alien Life?

A two-month rain storm in southern India may be the most compelling evidence yet that extraterrestrial lifeforms have visited Earth.

Between July 25 and Sept. 23, 2001, the Indian state of Kerala was drenched by bizarre red-colored rain unlike any seen previously, according to the latest episode of"The Unexplained Files," airing Sept. 25 on the Science Channel.

Godfrey Louis, a physicist based in Kerala, analyzed drops of the rain expecting the strange color would be a result of dust particles. But that didn't turn out to be the case. 

"Dust particles do not have this irregular shape," Louis said in the program. "They are not transparent like this."

Louis noticed something else when he analyzed the crimson-colored water droplets under the microscope. In his opinion, the particles appeared to be alive, with some superficial similarities to blood cells -- although closer inspection revealed they were not blood cells.

At first, the official report from the Center for Earth Science Studies attributed the red rain to an exploding meteor that fell to Earth in the area a week before the first red rainstorm.

After working with the Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute, the official explanation was changed to spores, according to the Indian Express.

Researchers at Stintec, a lab in Sri Lanka, found something more shocking. Even though the so-called "spore cells" were replicating, not one trace of DNA could be found.

Louis believes that the spores were on the meteor that exploded over Kerala prior to the rainstorm.  He said research showed that the supposed space cells managed to continue replicating even under temperatures exceeding 572 degrees Fahrenheit.

"It was growing at temperatures that would kill other lifeforms," Louis said on the show.

British-based astrobiologist Chandra Wickramasinghe believes that the "alien rain" theory is not only plausible, but likely, especially since 100 tons of space rock hits Earth daily.

"The existence of life outside the Earth is amazingly regarded as an extraordinary hypothesis, but I would argue that the extraordinary hypothesis is that this tiny minute piece of dust we call the Earth is the center of life in the universe and that no life exists even next door to it," Wickramasinghe told the program.

Earlier this year, Wickramasinghe also announced he had discovered tiny fossils inside a meteorite found in Sri Lanka in December. He used this finding to promote "panspermia," a theory that life exists throughout the universe and is distributed by meteoroids and asteroids.

Louis and Wickramasinghe's red rain theories are inspiring a storm of controversy, but the possibility of actual proof that life on other planets is clouded with some chilling realizations.

Earlier this year, researcher Anil Samaranayake released a paper in the Journal of Cosmology suggesting that the cells found in red rain pose a possible risk to Earth. "A high concentratrion of uranium was found in the outer crust of the unicellular organisms," Samaranayake said.

CIA Finally Admits Existence of Area 51

Documents recently declassified by the CIA not only officially acknowledge the existence of the mysterious Area 51, but they point toward alien activity as having taken place on the base.

In 2005, Jeffrey T. Richelson, a senior fellow at the National Security Archives, used the Freedom of Information Act to request information on U2 spy planes and other forms of covert aerial surveillance. A mere eight years later he received a slightly redacted version of the history of two surveillance programs: U2 and OXCART. The technology for both of these programs was designed and tested at Area 51.

Area 51 is officially an airport located next to Groom Lake, approximately 80 miles from Las Vegas. It began as a gunnery range during World War II, and quickly evolved into a super-secret airfield in the early years of the Cold War. The area, however, gained most of its notoriety because of its rumored relationship with UFOs and other extraterrestrial knowledge. While many top secret UFO sites around the world, Area 51 is by far the most famous.

Some people seem to think that the CIA’s release of declassified documents regarding U2 and OXCART indicate that they’re willing to come clean about the secrets locked up in Area 51 for so long. These documents speak of advanced technology and Cold War tensions, but they make no mention of aliens, spacecraft, or the reverse engineering that some many seem to think took place at the base.

Many online news sources have expressed a tongue-in-cheek remorse over the absence of extraterrestrial life forms in the declassified documents. Yahoo! News broke the story with the headline “CIA Acknowledges Area 51-But Not UFOS or Aliens.” CNN was downright apologetic to the conspiracy community: “Area 51 Is Real, But Sorry, No Aliens.”

For true ufologists, however, the information excluded from the CIA’s documents is just as telling as what was included. After all, Richelson’s request wasn’t specifically for information on Area 51; he was researching aerial surveillance programs that just happened to be tested there. It is still entirely possible that extraterrestrial programs were being run simultaneously and their existence has yet to be made public.

Audrey Hewins, a woman who runs a support group for those who have been contacted by extraterrestrials, thinks that this round of declassification is just a way for the CIA to test the waters before admitting to more out-of-this-world programs. She told ABC News, “I’m thinking that they’re probably testing the water now to see how mad people get about the big lie and cover-up.”

Regardless of how much the CIA did or did not reveal in their documents regarding U2 and OXCART, the fact that they publicly acknowledged Area 51 is still groundbreaking. As late as 1994, when a group of civilian employees at the base filed a federal lawsuit claiming they were being exposed to toxic chemicals while working at Area 51, the White House, Pentagon, and Supreme Court all categorically denied the existence of the base.

At least now, the CIA had admitted Area 51 exists and that some secret projects were carried out there. What else they’re willing to admit in the future remains to be seen.
