A 15-year-old girl has been gang-raped at Rum VDC-1 in the district.
A gang of six local youths broke into the house of the victim and committed the crime on August 11, police said. The victim and her 17-year-old sister were at home but their parents were in the animal shed at the time of the incident. The sister was injured as she tried to retaliate against the perpetrators.
“The victim’s relatives informed us about the incident on Thursday though it happened on Sunday. She was serious when we reached the incident site.
We sent her to district hospital for health check-up and treatment,” Police Inspector Bijay Kumar Singh of the Area Police Office in Darbang said. Singh quoted the victims as saying that the perpetrators first knocked at the door and later entered the room ripping apart the roof.
The Area Police Office arrested six local youths, including Indra Roka, 16, and Binod Roka, 17, in connection with the incident. “We detained six
suspects and sent them to District Police Office for the further investigation,” Singh said.
