Top 10 chilling serial killers and how they were caught

In the latest in our series on crime, we look at some of the most dangerous serial killers ever to walk the earth - and see how the Mirror covered their gruesome crimes at the time.Whether it has been Jack the Ripper or the Suffolk Strangler, serial killers have horrified and fascinated.
As Crime & Investigation Network screens Secret Life of a Serial Killer tomorrow night, we look at 10 serial murderers' chilling crimes...

1 - Robert Black

Robert Black’s job as a van driver allowed him to roam the UK and become a serial killer of little girls. It has been proved he killed four between 1981 and 1986, but detectives believe he killed several more. Between 1981 and 1986 Robert Black killed four little girls, but detectives believe he killed several more

His victims included:
·        Nine year old Jennifer Cardy, who was snatched in County Antrim in August 1981. Her body was found in neighbouring County Down a few days later.
·        Susan Maxwell, 11, was kidnapped at Coldstream, Scotland in July 1982. Her body was dumped 250 miles away in Staffordshire.
·        Caroline Hogg was five when Black grabbed her near her home in Portobello, Edinburgh in July 1983. Her body was found in Leicestershire.
·        Susan Harper was abducted in Leeds in 1986. Her body was found in the River Trent at Nottingham.

Black was cornered in Scotland in 1990 after he was seen bundling a six-year-old girl into his van.

He is now serving eleven life sentences and will not be freed until he is aged 89.

2 - Dennis Nilsen

Loner Dennis Nilsen strangled at least 15 young men and boys who he lured to flats he rented in London between 1978 and 1983.After his arrest Nilsen told detectives after killing several of his victims he kept their corpses and slept with him in his bed for several days before disposing of them “because he was lonely”.He disposed of his victims either by burning them on bonfires or cutting up their remains and flushing them down the lavatory.
He was caught because his ghoulish activity blocked the drains at his home. A plumber found pieces of flesh in the pipe and decided to have them scientifically analysed. They were human. Nilsen was declared sane when he went on trial at the Old Bailey and jailed for life.

3 - Kenneth Erskine

During the investigation the victims were examined by Home Office pathologist Dr Iain West. All had been strangled manually with the killer using just one hand. When police finally captured 24-year-old Kenneth Erskine they found he was already on file as a cat burglar. He was convicted at the Old Bailey in 1988 and sentenced to forty years.

In 2009, after new psychiatric evidence was heard at the Appeal Court, it was ruled that Erskine should have been convicted of manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility. He was subsequently moved to be detained indefinitely inside Broadmoor top-security hospital.

4 - Colin Ireland

In 1993 Colin Ireland, a former soldier, decided to become a serial killer. He became known as the ‘Gay Slayer’.PA
He decided the ‘casual affair’ lifestyle of some members of London’s gay community made them ideal targets. His first victim was theatre director Peter Walker. After killing him at his London flat he called a newspaper and tipped them off. Police found Mr Walker naked and tied to his bed with leather belts. Chris Dunn was the second victim. Police found him naked and tied to his bed. He had been strangled.

Ireland then started making phone calls to Scotland Yard taunting them and challenging them to catch him.

When police found the body of third victim Perry Bradley – similarly tied up and throttled, they found the killer had turned family photographs on a mantelpiece towards the wall – so they would not see the murder.

When the police found victim four, Andrew Collier, tied and strangled at his London home they found the killer had also strangled his pet cat.

Ireland was caught and jailed for life after murdering Emmanuel Spiteri. He had picked up his victim at a London gay club, but as they walked through Charing Cross together they were caught on CCTV, and Ireland was identified.

5 - Peter Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire Ripper

Peter Sutcliffe, became known as the ‘Yorkshire Ripper’ during a five-year rampage in which he murdered 13 women between October 1975 and November 1980. Most of Sutcliffe’s victims were prostitutes. He felled them from behind with a blow from a heavy ball peen-hammer, stabbed them, and then sexually assaulted them as they lay dying. Not all of Sutcliffe’s victims were ‘working girls’. His last two victims were students. Sutcliffe also violently attacked seven women who survived, though seriously injured.
Nine of Sutcliffe’s attacks were in Leeds, four in Bradford, and two each in Halifax, Huddersfield and Manchester. Sutcliffe was caught by chance in Sheffield in January 1981. Cruising the red-light district, his car was spotted by a police patrol as there was something suspicious about its registration plates. They pulled him over, and the ‘Yorkshire Ripper’ was finally unmasked.

6 - Dennis Rader

Dennis Rader, known as the BTK murderer, killed 10 times in Sedgewick County, close to Wichita, Texas, between 1974 and 1991. His first victims were all members of one family, Joseph and Julie Ortero and their daughter Josephine, 11, and son Joseph junior aged 9. They were all smothered and strangled using a combination of ropes and plastic bags.
Detectives discovered evidence of systematic torture, leading them to dub the unknown suspect as the ‘Bind, Tie, Kill (BTK) murderer’.
His next victim, 21-year-old Kathryn Bright was stabbed. His next five, all young women, were strangled.
During his murder spree the killer wrote anonymous letters to police and local papers describing his crimes.

Then in 1991 the killings suddenly stopped. For 13 years the trail went cold until in 2004, for no apparent reason, the killer started to write again to the police, and using the newspapers, a dialogue was opened with detectives.

In one letter he asked if information could be gleaned from a computer floppy disc. The cops said ‘no’ but it was a deliberate deception.
His next communication was on a disc and from it police traced Dennis Rader to his home.
Rader, now aged 69 is now serving 10 consecutive life terms in jail.

7 - Albert DeSalvo

Albert DeSalvo was the Boston Strangler who terrorised the female population of the American city between 1962 and 1964. He killed 13 times, usually after spying on his victims and breaking into their homes. DeSalvo’s oldest victim was Mary Mullen, aged 85. The youngest, Mary Sullivan, was only 19. Although most of his victims were strangled, one was battered with a metal pipe and another was stabbed. In 1964 the murders stopped, but a serial rapist spread fear across Boston. The attacker usually wore green clothes. Eventually the ‘green man’ rapist was caught and revealed as Albert DeSalvo. Police were able to link him to the murders.

Declared insane, DeSalvo was sent to a high-security mental hospital but escaped. Recaptured, he was placed in the tough Walpole prison where in 1973 he was stabbed to death by another inmate.

8 - Ted Bundy

Bundy was probably America’s worst ever serial killer. He was executed in the Electric Chair in 1989 having confessed to the killing of 30 young women, but the FBI think the true tally of his crimes may be twice that number. Bundy was handsome and charming. Sometimes he got attention from women by pretending to be injured or disabled and by asking for help.
Bundy appears to have started his killings in the Seattle area, where he battered and strangled several victims. He hid their bodies in remote country areas, often returning to visit them and committing depraved sexual acts on their corpses.

Detectives discovered he had decapitated many of his victims and kept their heads at his home for a period as ‘trophies’. After leaving Washington State he continued his killing spree in Colorado and Utah.

It was there in Aspen he was first arrested, but he escaped from custody twice, the second time on New Year’s Eve 1977. Bundy moved on to Florida where for he killed three more women in three weeks before being caught, tried and executed. The bodies of many of his victims have never been found.

9 - Jeffrey Dahmer

Jeffrey Dahmer was unmasked as a serial killer when a semi-naked man wearing a handcuff on one wrist flagged down a patrol car in Milwaukee, USA, one evening in July 1991. The man led the police to an apartment rented by 31-year-old Jeffrey Dahmer. Searching a room an officer noticed a stack of photos in a drawer of what appeared to be naked men. Closer inspection showed they were of the dismembered bodies of Dahmer’s victims.

When detectives interviewed him he confessed to the murders of 17 men he had lured to his apartment. Dahmer admitted he had eaten parts of some of his victims and kept the skulls of some as ‘souvenirs’.

Dahmer was sentenced to over 900 years in jail, but in 1994 he was murdered by another inmate.

10 - Andrei Romanovich Chikatilo
Ukraniain Andrei Romanovich Chikaltilo was convicted of murdering 53 women and children from 1978 to 1990. Known variously as The Butcher of Rostov, The Red Ripper and The Rostov Ripper, most of his victims were homeless people who he picked up near train and bus stations.

His crimes were notable in their violence, stabbing the victims uncontrollably until his perverted urges were satisfied.

When arrested and interrogated, he confessed to some 56 murders, but as three of the victims’ bodies could not be found, Chikatilo was not held accountable for them.

Declared sane after a six-day psychiatric evaluation, he stood trial in one of the first major media events of the post-Soviet era. He was sentenced to death and executed with a single shot to the back of the head on Valentine’s Day 1994

World's Top 10 Female Serial Killers

Money, revenge, pure insanity—these are the main reasons why these women committed their crimes. Some operated alone, and some had accomplices, but they had one thing in common: pure evil.

10. Beverley Allitt

Beverley Allitt was born in 1968 and started working as a pediatric nurse in 1991. During a period of 58 days, she murdered four children and attacked another nine, who were lucky enough to survive. From an early age, she showed signs of Münchausen syndrome and later Münchausen by proxy, which may explain her actions. Münchausen is a mental disorder in which a person feigns illness or trauma to attract attention. She was finally arrested and tried at Nottingham Crown Court in 1993, pleading not guilty. She received 13 life sentences for murder and attempted murder.

9. Raya And Sakina

Sisters Raya and Sakina ran a drug and prostitution ring (along with their spouses) in Alexandria. Being business women, they saw great financial opportunity in killing and robbing women. Their victims were known to wear gold jewelry and carry large amounts of money. The sisters would lure the victim into a rented house where one of the husbands would suffocate them. Afterward, the body was stripped of valuables and buried under the house. The disappearances didn’t go unnoticed, and the investigations eventually led back to them. Both couples received death sentences. Raya and Sakina were the first women to be executed in modern Egypt.

8. Martha Needle

Born in 1863 in Morgan, South Australia, Martha Charles grew up in a poor and abusive family and showed signs of instability from an early age. In 1882, she married Henry Needle and had three children: Mabel, Elsie, and May. By 1891, she poisoned all four of her family members, one by one. She then collected the insurance money, most of which she used for a family grave that she often visited.

A year later, she was hired as a housekeeper by two brothers: Otto and Louis Junken. She began an affair with Otto, but Louis opposed the engagement. He mysteriously fell ill and died a few months later. Otto’s second brother, Herman, also fell ill after moving in with the couple. This time, the autopsy revealed the arsenic Martha was feeding Herman. An investigation began, and the bodies of her husband, children, and Louis body were exhumed. All but Mabel tested positive for arsenic. Martha professed her innocence in court but was found guilty and sentenced to death. Surprisingly, Otto stuck by her side to the end.

7. Jeanne Weber

Jeanne Weber was born in 1874 and had three children, two of whom died in 1905. In March of that year, she murdered four children by strangulation, including her third (and last) son and two nieces. All of them showed visible signs of strangulation that were ignored by the physicians who examined the bodies. That April, Weber stayed home with her 10-year-old nephew while her two sisters-in-law went out shopping. When they came back early, they found Maurice gasping for air and Weber standing over him with a crazed expression on her face.

Eight murder charges were filed, including all three of her children and two others who died in her care. She was acquitted on February 1906 due to her brilliant lawyer and misguided jurors. She then started working as a babysitter, which resulted in two more deaths. In 1908, a father found her strangling his 10-year-old son and had to punch her three times to make her let go of the lifeless body. Weber was ultimately declared insane and spent two years in an asylum before hanging herself in 1910.

6. Juana Barraza

Juana Barraza was born in 1956. Her mother was an alcoholic who traded her own daughter to a man for three beers. That man repeatedly raped Barraza, who gave birth to four of his children. Experts believe that Barraza began her killings sometime around 1990. Her victims were always women over 60—typically ones who lived alone. Posing as a government official, she would gain access to the victims’ houses and then murder and rob them.

Witnesses led the police to believe the suspect was a male dressed in women’s clothes due to Barraza’s masculine features. Imagine their surprise when they arrested a woman who was trying to flee the house of the latest victim. Fingerprints taken from Barraza linked her to 10 murders, but at least 40 more were suspected.

Barraza confessed to four murders but denied involvement in all other cases. She was tried in 2008 and found guilty on 16 charges of murder and aggravated burglary and 11 separate counts of murder. She was sentenced to 759 years in prison.

5. Helene Jegado

Helene Jegado was born in 1803, and she was trained as a domestic servant at an early age. Like most women, Jegado poisoned her victims with arsenic. Her first suspected poisoning was in 1833. Seven people died over three months, including a priest and Jegado’s own sister. Due to a recent cholera outburst in the area, no one suspected anything. In 1850, she poisoned several servants in another household. When the doctors requested an autopsy for one of the victims, Jegado declared her innocence out of the blue, before she was even suspected. She was arrested and tried in 1851 but was accused only of three murders, three attempted murders and 11 thefts. Jegado denied all accusations but was found guilty, sentenced to death by guillotine, and executed in 1852.

4. Maria Swanenburg

Maria Swanenburg received the nickname Goede Mie (Good Me) because she loved to care for the children and ill people in her poor neighborhood. Over the course of three years, she poisoned every family she worked for, starting with her own parents. She would then collect the inheritance of the deceased, claiming she earned it for her services—often leaving no money to cover a burial. Some of her victims managed to escape death but sustained irreparable damage. The survivors eventually led to her discovery.

She was caught in 1883 and tried for 90 murders—but found guilty of only three. She was sentenced to life in a correctional facility, where she died in 1915.

3. Amelia Sach And Annie Walters

Sach and Walters, better known as the Finchley Baby Farmers, also began their horrible operation in hopes of wealth. Sach owned two “lying-in” homes in London around 1900. One day, she started advertising that babies “could be left” and cared for—for a fee, of course. The clients were mostly servant girls who couldn’t keep both their children and their jobs. Parents were charged both for lying-in and for the adoption to a total amount of £25 to £30.

After a baby was born, Walters would poison it with chlorodyne. They were caught after Walters raised the suspicion of her landlord (who was also a police officer). A total number of victims could not be determined. Sach and Walters were tried and sentenced to death by hanging in 1903.

2. Vera Renczi

Vera Renczi was born to a wealthy family in 1903. Renczi was beautiful, and she was known to be involved with older men from the age of 15. Early childhood friends described Renczi as possessive and jealous. Her first marriage was with a wealthy businessman, who fathered her son Lorenzo. Renczi suspected him of cheating, so she poisoned his wine with arsenic, claiming he abandoned her to anyone who asked.

Her second husband disappeared the same way a few months later. Renczi decided she had enough of marriage—but not of men. Her boyfriends kept vanishing until she was reported to the police by an angry wife (she dated married men too). Searching her house, the police found a scene right out of an Edgar Allan Poe tale in her wine cellar: 32 male bodies in various stages of decomposition, each in his own coffin. She also murdered her son Lorenzo when he discovered her secret. Renczi confessed to all the murders and was sentenced to life in prison, where she died of brain hemorrhage.

1. Magdalena Solis

Magdalena Solis (also known as the High Priestess of Blood) was a Mexican serial killer and cult member. She became a prostitute at a young age and is one of the few documented cases of female serial killers who had clear sexual motivations.

In 1963, Solis and her brother were contacted by a pair of criminals, the Hernandez brothers. They tricked the poor and illiterate people of a small town into believing they were prophets of the Inca gods. The villagers would pay economical and sexual taxes to the brothers, after being promised that the gods would reward them with treasures.

After a few months, the villagers realized they weren’t getting any richer, despite doing everything the “prophets” said. That’s when the brothers claimed Magdalena was the reincarnation of a goddess—to restore faith. Magdalena demanded human sacrifice and devised a ritual that consisted of the brutal beating, burning, cutting, and maiming of the victim. The priests would drink the victim’s blood after mixing it with chicken blood. In the last sacrifices, they reached the point of dissecting the heart of the victim alive.

In May 1963, a 14-year-old local accidentally witnessed one of those rituals. He immediately reported it to the police, and a detective escorted him back to the village. That was the last day either was seen alive, resulting in a further police investigation. The Solis siblings were arrested and the Hernandez brothers killed. Magdalena and Eleazar were sentenced to 50 years in prison for only two homicides (those of the boy and the detective) because the police were unable to confirm their participation in the other murders.

The Richest And Most Famous Criminals in History

If you're really looking for a way to get rich, why not try crime? Some of the richest and most famous people in history have been criminals. If you think you have what it takes to be a drug kingpin or a Wall Street inside trader, then there are literally millions and billions of illegal dollars waiting to be made. But you'll always run the risk of getting captured, jailed or killed. If you're still interested in pursuing a life of crime, take a few lessons from these seven notoriously rich criminals and before long, you too could be sitting atop a mountain of ill-gotten money and power.

Pablo Escobar: Net Worth – $30 Billion

Remember that evil South American drug lord villain that you see in action movies all the time? Well that villain is a caricature of Pablo Escobar, the richest criminal in history. Escobar was the head of Colombia's Medellin cocaine cartel, the most powerful drug cartel ever. In his prime, Pablo was the 7th richest man in the world. He also donated a great deal of money and resources to the impoverished neighborhood that he was raised in. Sure, he was eventually tracked down by secret police and riddled with bullets until he died, but before that he was really, really rich.

Dennis Kozlowski: Net Worth – $600 Million

Nowadays, one of the most popular ways to become a rich criminal is to wiggle your way to the top of a major corporation and then embezzle the crap out of it. That's what Dennis Kozlowski did with Tyco a few years ago, which is ironic because one of the company's most recognized brands is ADT Home Security. Dennis and his CFO decided to simply use the company's money like it was their own. Dennis purchased a $19 million house, an $18 million apartment in New York, and a $2 million private Jimmy Buffett concert. He was able to steal $600 million before someone in accounting said "hmm, that's weird." Kozlowski is now in jail, but boy what a ride!

Al Capone: Net Worth – $100 Million

According to his business card, Al Capone was a used furniture dealer. According to the city of Chicago in the early 20th century, Capone was The Boss of all Bosses. Capone is probably the most notorious mobster in American History. He earned his money gambling, stealing, and bootlegging, and he made enough money to rent the five-room suite at the luxurious Metropole Hotel for $1,500 a day. At his peak, Capone was earning $100,000 a week from his criminal empire. He purchased a mansion on Miami's Star Island that he modified into a fortress. The only thing Capone didn't spend his money on was taxes, and he eventually went to prison for it. Capone was eventually released and died of heart attack brought on by syphilis at his Florida home in 1947.

Amado Carrillo Fuentes: Net Worth – $25 Billion
I'm telling you: if you want to get rich, move South and start a drug cartel. Judging by the long line of South American drug lord billionaires, you'll stand to make a fortune, just like Amado Fuentes. He was the leader of the Juarez Cartel in Mexico, and he was really good at his job. He trafficked four times more cocaine into the United States than any other smuggler, and he got paid for every gram of it. He was never caught, but he died on the operating table during a plastic surgery procedure that was intended to change his identity so that he could escape the DEA and Mexican authorities, making him an undisputed badass, and probably the richest smuggler in history.

Leona Helmsley: Net Worth – $2 Billion

Unfortunately, there aren't many billionaire women out there, so if you're planning to become filthy rich by marrying a rich person, it's probably better that you're a female, like Leona Helmsley. She was a simple sewing factory worker and mother before she met and married real estate mogul Harry Helmsley (who was already married at the time). Leona was quickly named the President of the Helmsley Palace Hotel which she ruled with an iron fist. Leona was the definition of a rich bitch, and was prone to screaming rants over the slightest things, like crooked lampshades. In 1988 she and her husband were indicted for fraud and extortion, and Leona went to prison and was fined $7 Million dollars, but that was a scratch on the surface of Leona's $2 billion fortune. She owned the lease to the Empire State Building until she died in 2007. Speaking of bitches, in her will Leona left $12 million to her dog.

Bernie Madoff: Net Worth – $820 Million

Don't feel bad for Bernie Madoff. He may be last on this particular list, but he's up toward the top on everyone's "People I'd Totally Punch in the Face in Public" list. Bernie swindled a whole bunch of people out of billions of dollars in a Ponzi scheme. Don't worry, though, Bernie got what was coming to him: he's wasting away in the lap of luxury in a fancy minimum security prison. Apparently he's already been involved in a few prison yard fights with other senior citizens, and prison life is "very strenuous" for him. I don't know about you, but I really feel bad for that worthless piece of shit.

At least one of his initial victims survived to tell the tale of being drugged (with chloroform) and waking up in a room with a stranger who flourished dildos in front of him. Twenty-eight bodies were discovered beneath the floorboards of Gacy’s home and more bodies were found in the river. Gacy died of lethal injection in 1994.

4. Carlton Gary

At the age of 16, his mother abandoned him and he took to a life of crime. Gary eventually began to break into the homes of wealthy, older women. He would viciously rape them and strangle them to death. He was in and out of prison, eventually being sentenced to death in 1986. However, a stay has been placed on his execution.

3. Gary Heidnik

Gary Michael Heidnik was born in November of 1943. Odd behavior was clearly ingrained in this man, who glued money to the walls of his home. He wanted a large family, and devised a plan to kidnap, rape, and impregnate ten women so that he could achieve his dream. As he kidnapped each of five women, he chained them securely in the basement, intermittently torturing each one in between rapes. He fed the women scraps, dog food, and even the remains of one of the women who he had killed. Heidnik was executed in July of 1999 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

2.Carl Panzram

A self-confessed sodomizer of more than one thousand males, Carl Panzram was born in June of 1891. As a teenager, he led a life of crime, dabbling in alcoholism, theft, and burglary. In and out of prison many times, his criminal activities worsened, and he began to rape the men he would steal from. Although his physical size and strength allowed him to dominate many men, his use of a handgun ensured it. He began to kill some of his victims in 1920, committing arson as well. His rapes included young boys as well. Panzram was hanged to death in 1930.

1. Albert Fish
Born to parents Ellen and Randall Fish in 1870 in Washington, Albert Fish was a serial killer who enjoyed raping and cannibalizing women. His nicknames include the “Boogey Man” and the “Werewolf of Wisteria.” He spent much of his time in an orphanage due to the fact that his family was plagued with mental illness. At this time, he developed a friendship in which he was introduced to the perverted activity of eating feces and drinking urine. He molested children, particularly young boys. He practiced sadomasochism, planned to castrate young boys, and murdered an eight year-old girl, whom he subsequently ate. Fish was executed by electric chair in 1936.

The above list of sexual predators, coming from varied backgrounds and displaying an assortment of perverted behaviors, provides only a glimpse into the type of heinous behavior that human beings can perform. As you can see, perverts come in all sizes, types, and ages.

Sean Kingston Sued for Gang Rape

Sean Kingston has been sued by a woman who accuses the "Beautiful Girls" singer of gang raping her in 2010, TMZ reports.

Carissa Capeloto, now 22, claims in the lawsuit that Kingston, his bodyguard and a member of Kingston's band forced themselves on her at a Seattle hotel in July 2010. Before the alleged rape, Capeloto says she smoked pot and drank seven to 10 shots of vodka.

Capeloto says she was invited to Kingston's room for a meet-and-greet following a Justin Bieber concert that the singer had also performed at. But when she arrived at the hotel room, Kingston was allegedly waiting naked on the bed. According to the lawsuit, Kingston's bodyguard allegedly picked up Capeloto and placed her on top of Kingston. The three men then gang raped her while she was "obviously incapable of consent," the lawsuit says.

Capeloto's friend later entered the hotel room and retrieved her. They proceeded to call the police and took Capeloto to the hospital, where she says she was treated for injuries consistent with rape, according to the report.

Criminal charges against Kingston and the other two men were dropped in 2010 because police found Capeloto wasn't credible enough, TMZ says.

Capeloto says in the lawsuit that the incident ruined her life and that she can barely sleep, has mood swings and panic attacks. She has sued all three men and is seeking a minimum of $5 million in damages. The trail is set for November.

Kingston responded with legal documents of his own, insisting the sex was consensual, according to TMZ.

Polish Woman, Wants To Have Sex With 100,000 Men

It's good to have a goal in life, but the one purportedly expressed by a woman in Warsaw, Poland, may be a stretch.

Ania Lisewska, 21, is allegedly attempting to travel to every city in the world so she can have sex with at least 100,000 men for 20 minutes each.

"I want men from Poland, Europe and all around the world. I love sex, fun and men," she said, according to the Austrian Times. "In Poland the subject of sex is still taboo and anyone who wants to fulfill their sexual fantasies is considered a deviant, a whore or mentally ill."

The supposed sex marathon allegedly began last month in Warsaw, according to her Facebook page, and she hopes to have her way across Poland before moving to other countries.

So far, she's had sex with 284 men, according to Fakt.pl and didn't let the fact she has a serious boyfriend stop her.

He told the Polish language website he was "not thrilled" with her unusual hobby, but had no choice and "had to come to terms" with it.

Her Facebook page currently only has slightly more than 9,000 likes, but Lisewska is allegedly attempting to attract potential partners by setting up a website where they can register and kept apprised of her current activities.

The story raises eyebrows for a number of reasons. First, Lisewska's website isn't working properly except for the front page.

In addition, she has not responded to media requests.
Then there is the nature of the quest itself. Having sex with 100,000 people for 20 minutes each would take a person more than 3.8 years -- and that's only if they went at it day and night without breaks for sleep, food or personal hygiene.
Lisewska claims she is planning her sexual encounters to take place on weekends, which would stretch out the time frame considerably -- up to nearly 20 years, according to one Polish website.

Another reason to be skeptical: Many of the media stories about Lisewska suggest she is attempting to get her erotic efforts recognized by Guinness World Records. The organization has never adjudicated sexually-oriented records.
Lisewska is now claiming to be the victim of foul play on her Facebook page. She claims it was hacked by someone who posted she had AIDS, which she denied by posting test results on the page.

But even if Lisewska is on the level and her motives are pure as the driven snow, the stories of guys who've been ripped off by "women" claiming to offer free sex are legion.

Sometimes, they're not even women, like Nazario Cruz and Jose Urias, who were arrested earlier this month for allegedly pretending to be a young woman whose fantasy was to have sex while rolling around in cold hard cash. The deceptive duo allegedly arranged to meet the guys and would then rob them.
